Celebrations and Sadness...but finished with SUNSHINE & SMILES

This week was a tough one.  I had the stomach bug all week, so I was out of sorts.  I saw pictures of my Dad's gravesite for the first time, so again I was out of sorts.  However, Saturday was the Race for the Cure.  It fills my heart with glee to support the mission to save the tatas.  Mostly because I feel like its the least that I can do.  One in eight women will receive a breast cancer diagnosis....bad stats!  I'm inspired by all the survivors that trek out to run 3.1 miles...some during chemotherapy and some for the first time ever. It's always a course filled with families and friends casually enjoying being fit together.  Bob ended up contracting the stomach bug, so he had to sit the race out.  Avery fell asleep in the first .5 miles.  Tyler was a gem the entire ride.  I didn't have my jogging stroller, so each hill was tough.  I couldn't weave in and out of people, so my pace was slow and steady.  I was okay with it because I enjoy any race I can have the kids with me.  My hope is that one day they will remember crossing the finish line (with momma panting :D).  I let Tyler run across with me (while I pulled sleeping Avery in the stroller).  His excitement and smile was ahhh-mazing!  Matt & Mione helped the kids and I trek back home thru the metro... which was greatly (emphasis on greatly) appreciated because the stroller situation can be trick on and off the escalators and metro.  After the race the kids and I hung out with friends and enjoyed a sunshine stroll to the park & back.  The weekend ended with a beautiful Mother's Day Sunday....sunshine, church, run while the kids napped, Costco, and a few misc. errands.  The kids rode their bikes and we ate a casual dinner on the back deck.  Couldn't have ended any better!
