Army 10 Miler - DC

Sunrise at the 28th Annual Army 10 Miler
I figured it best to jot down my race recap before I forget:
Mile 1: Did I really just sign up for this race last night?
Mile 2: Running over the Arlington National Bridge...crap, my runkeeper isn't tracking me
Mile 3: 8 minute miles... woooh baby, time to slow down or I will hurt by mile 4
Mile 4: Water stop, yes please!  Amazing... Army soldiers giving me water...love the HOOAH!
Mile 5: Lincoln Memorial.... I will never get tired of seeing these beautiful steps.
Mile 6: This one is a blur....I'm still soaking up all the "in honor of" shirts and number of military members racing.  I love the military... every last one...soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen!
Super Cool Jumper
Mile 7:  Yes... I'm at mile 8 and I know I can go 2 more miles!  Everyone around me seems to be still pushing hard.  I gotta give this race my all... not for me, this one is for the troops and both Grandpa's who served during Vietnam.  Hoping my dad is watching from above.
Mile 8: What, why did that sign say mile 8 again?  At this point, I'm giving all the kiddos a high-five.  I love the little supporters and family members that brave the morning cold to cheer for their racer.
Mile 9: That last mile was sooo long... but, I can nearly smell the finish line... pushing hard.
Mile 10:  I'm running my little heart out and sound like darth vader... but I won't leave anything behind!

More Jumpers!  What a great way to start a race!
I'm soooo blessed to have an awesome hubby and kiddos.  They support me with cheers and love from home.  The first thing I do after crossing the finish line is text my hubby.  Right after the finish, I saw an Army soldier holding a bouquet of pink roses.  He had the look of "I'm about to propose."  I was tempted to ask, but thought I wouldn't risk him missing seeing his sweetie cross.  Either way... another sign of super support and love.  I'm blessed and honored to had the opportunity to run the Army 10 Miler.  My poor friend Molly, a fellow military spouse, is under the weather and gave the her bib to run.  Cheers to hoping she feels better and everyone post-race is recovering healthy and happy.  My official time was 1:32:22 - pace time of 9:14... not too shabby... a new PR!  My next goal, sub 9!

The real heros!  Army Strong!

Sure...  lost a limb, still racing the ATM with a ruck sack... thats STRENGTH and DEDICATION!
Starting guns...with Army tradition!  We hopped the fence and jumped into the race right here.
